John Reid Quintet - A Tribute to the Music of Richard Rodgers
Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 2:00pm
Ironwood Stage & Grill - 1229 9th Avenue SE

This is Year Five of a five-year cycle examining the major composers of
the "Great American Songbook" (Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, George
Gershwin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers). Richard Rodgers (1902 - 1979)
is an EGOT, one of only a handful of people to win an Emmy, Grammy,
Oscar, and Tony award. Also the winner of a Pulitzer Prize, only he and
Marvin Hamlisch have won all five.

Rodgers had two great songwriting partners in his career: Lorenz Hart
(Rodgers and Hart) and Oscar Hammerstein II (Rodgers and Hammerstein)
and this concert will feature works from both tandems, such as "My
Romance," "Have You Met Miss Jones," "My Funny Valentine," and
"It Never Entered My Mind."
