PROGRAM
This concert presents a journey through three distinct musical styles for cello and piano. We begin with Nadia Boulanger’s Trois Pièces, three brief but evocative works that showcase her refined melodic and harmonic sensibility.
Franz Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata follows, a lyrical masterpiece known for its singing melodies and graceful interplay between cello and piano, full of charm and emotional depth.
The program concludes with Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Cello Sonata in G minor, Op. 19, a work of sweeping intensity and rich harmonies, where both instruments share a powerful and expressive dialogue, culminating in a triumphant finale.
These pieces explore the full emotional range of the cello-piano repertoire, from Boulanger’s elegant miniatures to the dramatic heights of Rachmaninoff.
