*Piece Description

Flores' piece 'Timeless Beauty of Frescografia' is inspired by a selected group of paintings by renowned visual artist, Sir Antonio Caruso. Frescografia is an art technique invented by Caruso that involves painting on a cork surface so that the colours are absorbed and then released back to the surface. Flores uses the art technique of frescografia as a guide for this new work. Like the art, the musical materials are also absorbed and emerge different each time, with past and present occurring simultaneously throughout the piece. New ideas are presented with old ideas from previous movements and blurred as one. Flores' composition reflects both the essence of Caruso's technique and the evocative scenes within his paintings of earth, water, landscape, and the celestial sky.
