A note from our Artistic Director, Janna Sailor

I am thrilled to welcome you to experience this season’s musical offerings created by our talented musicians from right here in Alberta! This fall marks the ISC’s 43rd season of music making, and we are so grateful to you, our community of supporters, sponsors, and musicians, for sustaining our organization and supporting live music and creativity in Calgary over the past four decades.

These past Covid years have brought many challenges to the music industry, and deeply impacted all of our lives, and for myself personally, music – whether performed live, live-streamed, captured via recording or soaring over the radio air waves – has been my continued source of encouragement to overcome these challenges, and served as a reminder of the power of the live music experience in the company of others. Our welcoming new concert venue at cSpace King Edward serves as a beautiful hub for gathering, creating, and sharing, and we are thrilled to be a part of this vibrant community arts hub. As an added bonus, the unique glass theatre design grants the audience a lovely view of our beautiful city while you take in the performance!

This season we will feature musical programs from artists and composers you know and love (Main Stage Series), concerts to celebrate the important people/days in our lives (Specials), sonic journeys for the curious listener (Discovery Series), and finally, a concert for the young (and young at heart!) with our Family Feature which promises to be filled with musical storytelling, imagination, and adventure for all! Each concert is artist curated and performed by world class musicians in an accessible and relaxed concert atmosphere, and audience members of all ages and mobilities are always welcome.

Finally, as an organization we are deeply committed to engaging with the community in a respectful, inclusive, and deeply human way, knowing that music is a powerful medium in which to unite, engage, and more deeply understand one another. Join us, as we embark on this journey of discovery, listening, and creating together as a musical community!
